The year is 1997 and the Antwerp public gets the scoop of a unique eating culture: East meets West. Guests can make their own selection from 40 fresh ingredients and have it prepared then and there by an Asian wok chef with sauce and herbs of their choosing. De Wok en ‘t Tafeldier was the first wok restaurant, based on the age-old Asian street food tradition, and an instant hit. Our popular all-you-can-eat formula and the accompanying spectacle made for highly desired seats and thus long waiting lists. De Wok en ‘t Tafeldier turned out to be such a trendsetter that it became one of the most copied restaurant concepts years later…

De Wok en ‘t Tafeldier had 120 seats available in the restaurant and 30 seats at the bar.

The kitchen team at the time was comprised of chefs from Hong Kong, India and Nepal.
